We are responsible for the appointment of the Co-Headteachers and one of us will be present at interviews of other prospective staff and internal promotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is governors who hold the main responsibility for finance in the school and we will work with the Co-Headteachers to make decisions about balancing current use of resources and securing future development of the school. Decisions are the joint responsibility of the governing body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The role of the governing body is a strategic one, its key functions are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>set the aims and objectives for the school<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be a source of challenge and support to the Co-Headteachers (a critical friend)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the impact of our governing body?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>As Governors, fully committed to Heathfield Primary and Nursery School, we are proud of the many successes combining good academic outcomes in a positive, warm and welcoming ethos providing a curriculum rich and diverse with a wide range of opportunities and experiences both in and out of school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each Governor meeting we take the opportunity to reflect on our contribution to and impact on Heathfield\u2019s development:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Governors have played a key role in the successful expansion of Heathfield across two campuses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Through strong commitment and excellent attendance, quality and timely decisions are made<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Following a very detailed and rigorous research process, Governors decision making has improved school dinner provision to ensure good quality nutritious meals for pupils<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong strategic financial leadership has enabled the leadership structure to meet the needs of the school over two campuses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Effective challenge enables governors to promote, support and ensure a focus on school priorities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Staff are held to account to ensure the best outcomes for pupils<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evidence is received from a wide range of sources which supports governors to have a secure knowledge and understanding of the school\u2019s strengths and weaknesses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Middle leadership development is enhanced through accountability to the governing body<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Governors supported the school in achieving a\u00a0Good Ofsted outcome (2025)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Feedback from monitoring visits informs change and school improvement priorities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The governing body celebrates excellence in school<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relationships with staff are active through the system of visits and monitoring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diminishing the difference between disadvantaged pupils and others is a focus for the challenge of the governing body for this academic year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Through recognition of the importance of staff wellbeing Governors have contributed to maintaining the high level of staff retention<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Governors are passionate with their support for a broad and balanced curriculum meeting the needs of our pupils and this is reflected in the allocation of funds to heavily subsidise opportunities and experiences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaboration with other local schools in the Nottingham Schools Trust continues to have an impact on the quality CPD opportunities presented to teachers, Teaching Assistants, Governors and experiences for children.&nbsp; Governors have committed to fund the partnership agreement with the Royal Shakespeare Company as a Lead Associate school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Governors Impact Statement 2024\/25 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.every.education\/Open\/Document?guid=771debaf-49b4-40eb-9bdc-b677d822ab3b&amp;display=True\">Impact Statement<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DfE Statutory Guidance: Constitution of governing bodies of maintained schools&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 Statutory guidance setting out the arrangements for the constitution of governing bodies of all local-authority-maintained schools.
